In reporting for MIPS performance, there is no limit on the number of ACI performance categories you can choose to report. On one end of the equation, the more you report, the greater likelihood of you increasing your overall score. However, the potential downside is that CMS will be making some of this data available on Physician Compare. It is unclear at this point what data will be available and to what granularity it will be shared.
In an effort to be inclusive of different specialties, MACRA has created specialty specific quality measures, which can be found on their web-based tool. Engaging patients just prior to their appointment is a great opportunity to prepare patients for their appointment. Our reminder service is fully customizable, allowing you to send patients specific messages based on appointment type, location, frequency, and timing.
In the Anesthesiology measure set, there is a quality measure for preoperative smoking abstinence and beta-blocker usage in patients with history of CABG.

This is a great example of how our reminder service can help with adherence and performance on this measure: Our reminder service would enable you to configure reminders to a particular type of appointment with a very targeted message asking the patient to stop smoking. It also enables you to ask the patient to respond and then capture that patient’s response. This can not only help to reduce the number of patients smoking for the procedure, but also can be used to remind the patients of other pre-operative instructions, such as when to stop eating or to stop taking Aspirin.
This is just one example of our how our reminder service can be put to good use to help maximize your MIPS/ACI performance. We are in the process of putting together a MACRA suite of products to help you maximize your MACRA score, regardless of which measures you are reporting on. These tools will help you automate practice tasks to optimize patient engagement.
